SUMMARY:Suicide Awarness/Prevention Day at the Capitol
DESCRIPTION:Suicide Prevention Alliance will host Suicide Awareness Day at the Pennsylvania State Capitol on September 10\, 2026\, from 10:00 am – 11:30 am.  Join suicide prevention advocates\, suicide attempt and loss survivors\, legislators\, Suicide Prevention Task Forces\, and mental health professionals for an important day at the Capitol. We will be raising awareness for suicide prevention and offering hope at the PA State Capitol Rotunda.  Display tables will provide free information such as brochures\, resources\, wristbands\, etc. \nAccording to the latest statistics\, ​1\,845 people died by suicide in Pennsylvania\, which averages approximately 5 per day.  In PA\, suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death between ages 15-24\, the 3rd leading cause of death between ages 35-44\, and the 4th leading cause of death between ages 45-54.  Approximately 49\,000 died in the United States. \nWHO SHOULD COME:   Suicide Prevention Advocates\, County Suicide Prevention Task Forces\, Mental Health Professionals\, Suicide Loss Survivors\, Attempt Survivors\, and anyone else who has been impacted by suicide. \n WHERE:       Pennsylvania State Capitol\, 501 N 3rd Street\, Harrisburg\, PA 17120 \n WHAT:          Provide awareness of suicide in Pennsylvania \n WHEN:          September 10\, 2026    \n TIME:             10:00 AM – 11:30 PM

SUMMARY:25th Annual Candlelight Vigil in Remembrance of Those Lost to Suicide
DESCRIPTION:Twenty-five years ago\, we gathered for the first time to remember those we had lost to suicide. \nAt the time\, there was nothing like this in our area\, a place where survivors of suicide loss could come together publicly\, speak the names of the people we loved\, remember their lives\, and know we weren’t alone in our grief. \nWhat began from that loss no one ever could have imagined. \nFor 25 years\, families\, friends\, survivors\, helping professionals\, and members of our community have gathered by candlelight. We have spoken hundreds of names. We have shared stories\, tears\, music\, silence\, hugs\, and hope. \n25th Annual Candlelight Vigil in Remembrance of Those Lost to Suicide \nWhen: September 10\, 2026\nTime: 7:00 PM (6:30 to visit sponsor tables)\nWhere: Rose Tree Park Gazebo \nThis year’s vigil will be especially meaningful as we recognize 25 years of remembrance\, community\, and hope.  As always\, we will gather to remember those we love\, read their names\, light candles in their honor\, and stand beside one another in the understanding that no one should have to walk through suicide loss alone. \nHelp Us Remember 25 Years \n\n𝐏𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐄 𝐑𝐒𝐕𝐏\n\n\nIf you are planning to attend\, 𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐑𝐒𝐕𝐏 𝐚𝐬 𝐬𝐨𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐬 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 so that we can prepare enough candles and remembrance items for everyone attending.\n\n\n\n 𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗢𝗙 𝗡𝗔𝗠𝗘𝗦 & 𝟮𝟱𝗧𝗛 𝗔𝗡𝗡𝗜𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗦𝗔𝗥𝗬 𝗠𝗘𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗜𝗔𝗟 𝗩𝗜𝗗𝗘𝗢\nIf you are attending and would like your loved one remembered during the reading of names\, please send me their name with your RSVP.\n\n\nAs part of this year’s special 25th anniversary vigil\, I am also creating a memorial video honoring the loved ones of those joining us that evening.
