TRAINING POSTPONED – Family Matters Workshop – What to do for Family Members and Loved Ones if their Loved Ones have Attempted Suicide.

September 13, 2023 @ 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

$50.00

TRAINING POSTPONED!

Family Matters Workshop – In 2021 approximately 1.7 million people attempted suicide. We know suicide attempts don’t happen in a vacuum so there are family members, loved ones, friends who are impacted by each attempt. Suicide attempts are traumatic and often life-changing, yet the support and resources available for family members and attempt survivors are almost non-existent.

The Family Matters workshop was created with the intent to answer the question family members ask most often – what do I do? This innovative workshop recognizes the importance of supporting a family and the person who attempted or is struggling with suicidal thoughts/behavior. Topics covered in this 8-hour workshop will include trauma, communication, ways to help the attempt survivor, self-care and self-compassion with supporting exercises and resources.

The Family Matters workshop will be conducted and was created by Heidi Bryan, who is also an attempt survivor herself, and a suicide prevention advocate who has spoken throughout the country and was a leader in suicide prevention efforts in Pennsylvania until she moved to Wisconsin in 2011.  Heidi will be utilizing her over 20 years of experience in suicide prevention, working with many different suicide prevention organizations such as American Association of Suicidology, and United Suicide Survivors International.  She also works with family members, as an attempt survivor and loss survivor.  If you are a family member or friend of an attempt survivor or a clinician that wants to know how to help, it’s important that you come to this workshop. Family Matters was developed by Heidi Bryan, utilizing her over 20 years of experience in suicide prevention, working with family members, and as an attempt survivor.
