LOSS Team Training

Dr. Frank Campbell, along with the Suicide Prevention Coalition of Lehigh County, will be offering a free 2 (two) day training on LOSS Team Training.  The Suicide Prevention Coalition of Lehigh County will be having a free 2-day workshop on October 16 – 17, 2023, on how to create a LOSS Team in your community. LOSS Teams stands for Local Outreach to Suicide Survivors and involves two or more volunteers – called a LOSS Team which proactively goes to the scene of a suicide to provide immediate support to those left behind. A LOSS Team is made up of trained suicide loss survivors and sometimes other concerned community members that go to the scene of suicide to support those left behind. Day 1: Hope & Healing

8:00 am – 4:00 pm

LEARN

• How exposure to a traumatic event could result in an anxiety disorder and PTSD.
• A broadened view of those impacted by traumatic loss.
• The value of forming a community where active postvention is an option.
• The emotional benefit of getting help sooner versus later for survivors.

Day 2: LOSS Team

8:00 am – 2:30 pm + Optional Post Session

LEARN

• Raise awareness of what potential volunteer LOSS team members may experience.
• Understanding suicide and its impact on the community.
• Crime scene etiquette by local law enforcement experts.
• Getting started: who, what, where, and when.
