My Ascension: Free movie and conversation about Suicide Prevention

September 8, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Cumberland and Perry Counties’ Mental Health Office, the West Shore Theater, and the Capital Area Behavioral Health Collaborative (CABHC) are hosting the movie “My Ascension,” on September 8th at 6 pm. September is suicide prevention month. Our mission is to provide education, hope, and support in our community to fight suicide. Please plan to join us for this important “FREE” event. Registration is required via Eventbrite. We hope to see you there!

THE FILM: A suicide attempt left 16-year-old varsity cheerleader, Emma Benoit, paralyzed, but propelled her on a mission to use her painful experience to help others find hope and stay alive.
MY ASCENSION is a feature-length documentary that chronicles Emma’s inspiring journey and quest to walk again and also highlights the stories of two remarkable young people who tragically did not survive their attempts. We learn first-hand from their families, friends, school officials, and suicide prevention experts about the devastating effects of suicide and what can be done to prevent it.  A must-watch for parents of teens and anyone working with teens.
