FreeQPR Gatekeeper Training is a 2-hour
- Warning Signs: Identification of verbal, behavioral, and situational cues indicating a person may be considering suicide.
- The QPR Method:
- Question: How to directly ask about suicidal thoughts or intent.
- Persuade: How to listen, offer hope, and convince the individual to accept help.
- Refer: How to connect the person with local, professional resources.
- Myths and Facts: Correcting common misconceptions about suicide.
- Actionability: Techniques for suicide prevention that focus on means reduction and reducing psychological pain.
- Target Audience: Parents, teachers, coaches, police officers, or anyone positioned to recognize a crisis.
- Outcome: Participants learn to intervene to reduce immediate risk and save lives.
- Certification: Attendees often receive a booklet and a wallet card.
