Kathy Benton got involved with suicide prevention at an early age when a dear friend lost his life to suicide. The profound loss impacted her deeply and caused her to step up and assist those who may have missed the clues sent by someone contemplating ending their life by suicide.

In addition, Kathy believes in proactively assisting those who may be considering suicide by helping them understand they are not alone, and that there are many people and resources available to help them in their time of need.

For the past 18 years, Kathy has worked in the Senate of Pennsylvania, serving as the Chief of Staff for a state senator from Philadelphia for the past 10 years. She also served as the senator’s Legislative director and the Democratic Executive Director of the PA Senate Labor and Industry Committee. Prior to that, she served in the legislative office of Bob Casey when he was Auditor General of Pennsylvania.

Kathy attended Cabrini University, Radnor, PA where she majored in Early Childhood and Elementary Education.
